History
Pablo Zinc
Diciembre 19th, 2006
Mr.Zinc is an acoustic rock band based in Madrid, since 2001. José (guitar and vocals), Pablo (vocals, harmonica, flute and percussion) and Nacho (guitar and vocals) have been playing as Mr.Zinc in streets, cafes, pubs and events, mainly in downtown Madrid, since they decided to write their own material. Their cover repertoire goes from clasic to nowadays rock, from blues to pop and always approaching other music styles. Among other influences the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Neil Young, Black Crows, Jack Johnson, Bob Dylan, King Crimson, Sheryl Crow… have infected Mr. Zinc’s creations of which Dejando la Ciudad, Balas or Huye de Aquí are just an brief example.
……….
Pablo and Nacho’s Acebo’s Project, already in the High School years, carried the seed of the spirit which brought the present band together: an excuse to get together and play all those songs they loved, and if possible, bring them on stage every once in a while. That is the spark which enlightened Imagina Cover Band: an acoustic rock-blues cover band. Soon after Imagina’s foundation by Pablo and José , Nacho joined the project adding the spice this cocktail was lacking. Time, experiences, enthusiasm, luck (good or bad) was all this wooden trio needed to come to it’s next reincarnation…
A drumstick struck more than a luck strike is what the band got through a great drummer who aborted the one and only attempt of the Imagina project to go electric. This situation had two consequences: a not corresponded love of Pablo for the bass and a crisis which leaded to the mutation of Imagina into Mr. Zinc. From a cover band to a formation developing it’s own material.
The solid songwriting experience of José, Nacho’s eloquence for arrangements and Pablos’ poetic aptitudes kept distilling songs from that November 2002 towards a singular style which was already growing. Finlay, more than half hundred gigs after, that’s what Mr. Zinc has become: naked rock with a wooden scent. Three voices with a lot to sing ahead…
